She is survived by a daughter, MaryAnn (Wayne) Riley of Inman, SC; a son, Dr. Francis (Barbara) Shembab of Bristol, IN; grandchildren, Mike (Julie) Riley, Lisa (Brian) Cottrell, and Alison (Joe) Osborne; great-grandchildren, Jessica (Paul) Greer, Jillian Cottrell, Alexis Harris, Toby Cocanower, Kalvin and Owen Osborne; great-great-grandson, Kaden Greer; brother-in-law Jerome (Karen) Shembab; and several nieces, nephews, special "daughters", and "grandchildren". After retiring, she and her husband moved to Florida, where they continued their hobby of square dancing. She also loved to crochet and make items out of plastic canvas, before her eyesight began to fail. A move to Spartanburg 15 years ago brought her closer to her daughter. She enjoyed being with people and especially going to many of the political events where she met President George and Barbara Bush, President George W. Bush, and many other local, state, and national politicians. She was a member of the Spartanburg County Republican Women, St. Paul's Catholic Women's Club, First Monday Club, and a life-member of the Winter Haven American Legion Auxiliary. A funeral Mass will be conducted at 11:00 AM Tuesday, May 3, 2011 at St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church, conducted by the Rev. Timothy Gahan. The family will greet visitors after the service. Interment will be held at a later date in Michigan City, IN. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church Building Fund, 161 N Dean St, Spartanburg, SC 29302; or Cancer Association of Spartanburg and Cherokee Counties, PO Box 1582, Spartanburg, SC 29304.
