Mary M. Shelton, 83, of Spartanburg, died Thursday, May 19, 2011, at Spartanburg Regional Hospice Home. Born February 11, 1928, in Blacksburg, she was the daughter of the late John Raymond and Florence Estelle Welchel Mullinax. Mrs. Shelton was a member of Anderson Mill Road Baptist Church, Lym-Anns Ladies' Service Club, President of Heaven Bound Sunday School Class, past-director of Young At Heart, the Senior Adult Choir, and crowned Mrs. Duncan-Lyman-Wellford of 1990. She was retired from Springs Industry, a graduate of Pelzer High School and attended Cecil's Business College. Survivors include her husband of 61 years, Jim "Buzzy" Shelton; two daughters, Pam Pace (Gene) and Patti Hester (Mike); a grandson, Shelton Pace; four granddaughters, Jaime Miller (Blake), Chandler Pace, Bethie Pace, and Michal Goodwin (John David); and two brothers, Dean Mullinax (Mary), and Rev. J. E. Mullinax (Ann). She was predeceased by three sisters, Hazel Mabry, Gertrude Humphries, and Evelyn Hyleman; and a brother, Royce Mullinax. Visitation will be 1:30-2:30 PM Saturday, May 21, 2011, at Anderson Mill Road Baptist Church. Funeral services will follow at 3:00 PM in the church, conducted by Dr. D. J. Horton, Rev. Chuck Mullinax, and Rev. Asheton Amerson. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens. Memorials may be made to Spartanburg Regional Hospice Home, 686 Jeff Davis Drive, Spartanburg, SC 29303; or Anderson Mill Road Baptist Church Building Fund, 4455 Anderson Mill Road, Moore, SC 29369.
