Mary Avis Fagan Raman, 96, of Spartanburg, SC, died Monday, February 1, 2016, at Spartanburg Medical Center. Born November 1, 1919, in Green Creek, Polk County, NC, she was the daughter of the late Marcus L. and Sarah Della Page Fagan and widow of James John Raman. Mrs. Raman retired from teaching at Chase High School in Rutherford County, NC. She was a member of Covenant Presbyterian Church, the adult choir, the Ladies Auxiliary, Beta Club, and FHA. Survivors include her nieces, Katherine I. Fagan of Chesnee, SC and Sandy Capps (Lee) of Greenville, SC; nephew, James Fagan (Janie) of Gaffney, SC; great-nephews, Ernest Fagan (Jessica) of Ellenboro, NC and Colby E. Fagan of Gilkey, NC; and great-great-nieces, Layla Fagan and Finley Fagan of Ellenboro, NC. In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by nine siblings. Interment will be at 10:00 AM Friday, February 5, 2016, in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, 1300 Fernwood-Glendale Rd., Spartanburg, SC 29307 with funeral services following at 11:00 AM at Covenant Presbyterian Church. The Rev. Robert H. Brozina will officiate. The family will receive friends in the church parlor after the services. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Covenant Presbyterian Church, 880 W.
