Mary Murray

Viola Hayes Murray, 81, of Spartanburg, SC, died Thursday, December 13, 2018, at her home. Born March 18, 1937, in Spartanburg, she was the daughter of the late Aug and Pauline Peeler Stephens and widow of Charles Ray "Buck" Murray. Mrs. Murray was a member of Grace Baptist Church and retired from Spartanburg District 6 Schools. Survivors include her children, James Ray Murray (Lu), Robert Dean "Bobby" Murray (Tonya), and Tonya Smith (David), all of Spartanburg, SC; grandchildren, Travis Murray, Jason Murray (Danielle), Stephen Murray (Cassie), Lindsay Metcalf (Drew), and Gracie Smith; great-grandchildren, Chandler, Chloe, Rylie, Emma, Sawyer, Reagan, Jamey, and Ryder. In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by a great-granddaughter, Cadence. A graveside service will be conducted at 1:00 PM Monday, December 17, 2018, in Oak Grove Cemetery, 350 N. Blackstock Rd., Spartanburg, SC 29301, by The Rev. Tommy Bryant.
