Mary Mcdavid

Mary Ellen Meadowcroft McDavid, 86, of Spartanburg, SC, died Tuesday, March 15, 2016, at Spartanburg Medical Center. Born February 9, 1930, in Harrisburg, PA, she was the daughter of the late William Francis and Edith Schaeffer Meadowcroft and widow of Alfred Floyd McDavid Sr. Mrs. McDavid was a member of St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church. Along with other ladies from St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church, she was a longtime volunteer at The Soup Kitchen in Spartanburg. She was also an avid baker, a lover of mystery novels, and a former cashier at Lake Bowen Fish Camp. Survivors include one son, Alfred F. McDavid Jr. of the home; one daughter, Lisa Moore (Danny) of Spartanburg, SC; sisters and brother, Marie Bull of Parkton, MD, Sister Anne Marie Meadowcroft Adorer of the Blood of Christ of Columbia, PA, JoAnn Reider of Pasadena, MD, Patrick Meadowcroft of York, PA, and Sheila Meadowcroft of Parkton, MD; a number of nieces and nephews as well as great-nieces and great-nephews; and her canine companions, Lulu and Lil Bit, and George the cat. In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by two sisters and seven brothers. Visitation will be 10:00-10:45 AM Friday, March 18, 2016, at the Historic St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church, 161 N. Dean St., Spartanburg, SC 29302. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11:00 AM, at the church, conducted by the Rev. David R. Whitman. Burial will be in Heritage Memorial Gardens, 3901 S. Church St., Roebuck, SC 29376.
