Mary Marzouka

Mary Hananiya Marzouka, 84, of Spartanburg, SC, died Thursday, December 29, 2022, at Prisma Health Greer Memorial Hospital. Born November 30, 1938, in Bethlehem, Palestine, she was the daughter of the late Hanna Zakharia and Wadeea Shaheen Hananiya and was the wife of the late Elias Saeed Marzouka.

Mary was a member of St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church of Spartanburg, SC. She was a pious believer. Love for family came next. Memories of her ever pleasant demeanor and delicious cooking will live forever.

Survivors include her children, Adel Marzouka of Miami, FL, Emad Marzouka (Jocelyne) of Spartanburg, SC, Wael Marzouka (Anka), Richard Marzouka, and Laila M. Miraziz (John) of Spartanburg, SC; grandchildren, Lina Jung (David), Charles Miraziz (Nicole), Elizabeth Weir (Lucas), Donna Lemon (Erik), Mary Marzouka, Alexander Marzouka, and Jordan Marzouka; great grandchildren, Gabrielle Jung, Patrick Jung, John Gray Miraziz, Sophie Miraziz, Paul Weir, Laila Weir, Marie Lemon, and Scarlet Lemon; and siblings, Salim, Hanan, Hanania, and Nabil.

She was also predeceased by a son, Nader Marzouka, and siblings, Na’eem, Samir, George, and Laurance.

Visitation will be 6:00 – 8:00 p.m., with a Trisagion Prayer Service at 7:30 p.m., Thursday, January 5, 2023 at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel, 2075 East Main Street, Spartanburg, SC 29307. Funeral services will be conducted at 12:00 noon, Friday, January 6, 2023, at St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church, 697 Asheville Highway, Spartanburg, SC 29303, by The Rev. George F. Nayfa. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, 1300 Fernwood-Glendale Road, Spartanburg, SC 29307.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church Building Fund, P.O. Box 1107, Spartanburg, SC 29307.
