Mary Lou Threadgill Bishop, 77, of Cowpens, SC, died Sunday, April 13, 2014, at Spartanburg Regional Hospice Home. Born May 14, 1936, in Cherokee County, SC, she was the daughter of the late Carroll Eugene and Ellie Parker Threadgill. Mrs. Bishop was retired from Southern Bell Telephone after 35 years of service. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Cowpens and "loved to receive flowers". Surviving are her husband, Charles Berlin Bishop; daughter, Tena Bishop Scales of Cowpens, SC; granddaughter, Kristin Doggett (Chris) of Gaffney, SC; great-grandchildren, Madison and Natalie; sister, Dot Story; and brother, Wayne "Pete" Threadgill. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by a son, Charles Jeffrey Bishop; and three sisters, Pat McBee, Carolyn Oglesby, and Dr. Ann White. Visitation will be 6:00-8:00 PM Tuesday, April 15, 2014, at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel, 2075 E. Main St., Spartanburg, SC 29307. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 PM Wednesday, April 16, 2014, at First Baptist Church of Cowpens, by Dr. Bill Westafer, the Rev. Ronell Owensby, and the Rev. Randy Bishop. Burial will be in Daniel Morgan Memorial Gardens, 175 Cemetery St., Cowpens, SC 29330. Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church of Cowpens, 108 West Church Street, Cowpens, SC 29330.
