Mary Lenear

Mary Alice Wingo Lenear, wife of the late Charles Leonard Lenear and daughter of the late Robert Allen Wingo and Grace Finch Wingo, died Saturday, April 25, 2015 in Fairfax, Virginia. She was born on December 25, 1922. She was a graduate of Spartanburg High School and Winthrop College. She worked for 16 years as an elementary school teacher, primarily at Houston Elementary School in Spartanburg. Mrs. Lenear was a lifelong member of First Baptist Church of Spartanburg. She was a member and past president of the Woman's Missionary Union and taught adult Sunday School for almost 60 years. She also taught English to Laotian refugees through the church's English as a Second Language program. She was a longtime member of the Cema Chreitzberg Garden Club. She was a loving and wonderful mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Surviving her are her daughter, Marietta Lenear Julienne and husband Paul, of Fairfax, VA; her granddaughters, Marianne Julienne and husband Trenton Hizer, of Richmond, VA and Alicia Julienne Bradford, of Fairfax, VA; and her great-granddaughter, Caroline Hizer, of Richmond, VA. She was predeceased by two infant children, Rebecca Ann Lenear and Charles Leonard Lenear, Jr.; and her brother, Cager Finch Wingo. Visitation will be 6:00-7:00 PM Friday, May 1, 2015, at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel, 2075 E. Main St., Spartanburg, SC 29307. Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 AM Saturday, May 2, 2015, at First Baptist Church Chapel, 250 E. Main St., Spartanburg, SC 29306. Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Park, 1955 Cannons Campground Rd., Spartanburg, SC 29307. Officiants will be the Rev. Bob Morgan and the Rev. Donald E. Wilton. Pallbearers are Trenton Hizer, Steven Heeren, Kenneth Robbins, Albert Haggerty, Charles Robbins, and Thomas Sumerel. The family would like to thank the staff of Sunrise at George Mason Assisted Living in Fairfax for their devoted care of Mary Alice for the last two years and nine months, and Heartland Hospice for their care at the time of her death. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First Baptist Church of Spartanburg, 250 E.
