Mary Kathryn Hall, MD

Mary Kathryn Hall, MD, age 67, passed away February 5, 2024, in Tampa, FL. Mary was born May 29, 1956, in Spartanburg, SC to the late, Thomas L. Hall and Estelle Holt Hall. 

Mary Kathryn and her sister, Cynthia, were adopted into the Hall family. She was a member at Bethel United Methodist Church, in Spartanburg, SC. Mary graduated from Spartanburg High School in 1974, Wofford College in 1978, Medical College of Charleston in 1982 and Medical College of Virginia in 1987.  Mary worked at Bay Pines Veterans Hospital in Seminole, FL until 1988 before transferring to James A. Haley Veterans Hospital in Tampa, Florida, where she became Chief of Urology in 2004. Mary furthered her career to become Chief of Surgery in 2017. 

Mary was honored and respected by her colleagues and to her family and friends she was devoted and loyal. She will be remembered by the family as fun, kind and always supportive. During her time off she loved to travel, including many trips overseas. 

Mary is survived by her sister, Cynthia Hall Lanier and her husband, Riley Harold Lanier; many cousins who she loved dearly; including many colleagues and cherished friends.

Family will receive friends, Saturday, February 17, 2024, from 11:30 am until 12 and following the service in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, 1300 Fernwood-Glendale Rd., Spartanburg, SC 29307.

Graveside service will be at 12:00 pm, February 17, 2024, in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens with service conducted by the Rev. Beth Drennen.  

A reception will follow the graveside service from 2:00 pm until 4:00 pm, at the Unitarian Universalist Church of Spartanburg, 210 Henry Pl, Spartanburg, SC 29306.

In lieu of flowers, please donate to Bethel United Methodist Church, 245 S. Church St., Spartanburg, SC 29306 or a charity of your choice in Mary’s memory.
