Mary Hood

Mary Sue Thompson Hood, 81, of Spartanburg, SC, died Saturday, October 15, 2016 at her home. Born October 24, 1934 in Cherokee County, she was the daughter of the late Dever W. and Mary Solmon Thompson. Mary graduated from Pacolet High School and was retired from Arkwright Mill. She was a member of Golightly United Methodist Church. Her loves were gardening and making award winning jams and jellies. Survivors include her husband of 61 years, Bennie Frank Hood, Sr.; sons, Frank Hood (Marcia) of Spartanburg, SC; Raymond Hood (Pat) of Gaffney, SC; daughter, Donna Anderson (Bo) of Spartanburg, SC; five grandchildren; seven great grandchild; brothers, Richard Thompson and Wayne Thompson; sisters, Geneva O'Dell and Carolyn Shockley. She was also predeceased by a grandson, Justin Anderson; sisters, Janice Gregory and Ruby Thompson; twin sister, Betty Lou Thompson; and brothers, Leroy Frazier and Wilburn Thompson. Visitation will be 6:00 - 8:00 PM Monday, October 17, 2016 at Floyd's Pacolet Chapel, 141 Memorial Drive, Pacolet, SC 29372. Funeral service will be 2:00 PM Tuesday, October 18, 2016 at Floyd's Pacolet Chapel, conducted by the Rev. Marv Crow and the Rev. Richard Andrews. Burial will follow in Pacolet Memorial Gardens, 141 Memorial Drive, Pacolet, SC 29372. The family will be at the home.
