Mary Locke Harvley, 90, of 1105 Partridge Road, died Wednesday, July 29, 2009, at RoseCrest. Born February 14, 1919, in Greenville, SC, she was the daughter of the late James W. and Maude Phaff Locke. She was a Greenville High School graduate and attended Limestone College, Spartanburg Methodist College, and Converse College. Mrs. Harvley was a member of Morningside Baptist Church, a member of the Ruth Memorial Sunday School Class, and was involved in numerous other church activities. She was a former member of the First Baptist Church of Spartanburg, a former volunteer with AWARE, and a member of the Forenoon Garden Club. Survivors include her husband of 68 years, Guy Marion Harvley; two daughters, Annette Harvley Rogers and her husband Steve of Matthews, NC, and Mary Harvley Berry and her husband Dr. Roy Berry of Spartanburg; two sons, Guy M. Harvley, Jr. and his wife Joan of Anderson, and James F. Harvley and his wife Kay of Greenville; four grandsons; four granddaughters; three great-grandsons; and two great-granddaughters. She was predeceased by a brother and a sister. Visitation will be 10:00-10:45 a.m. Monday, August 3, 2009, at Morningside Baptist Church. Funeral services will follow at 11:00 a.m. at the Church conducted by the Rev. Dr. Kirk H. Neely. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens.
