Mary Gwinn

Mary Holland Carroll Gwinn, 93, of Fernandina Beach, FL, died Tuesday, October 14, 2014, at Baptist Medical Center Nassau in Florida. Born January 24, 1921, in Rutherford County, NC, she was the daughter of the late Henry Lee and Daisy Velle Gillespie Holland. A minister's wife and homemaker, Mrs. Gwinn was a member of Bethany Baptist Church and former employee of Spartan Mills. She was a choir member, a Sunday School teacher, and enjoyed quilting and working puzzles. Surviving are her children, Nancy Bates (Allen-deceased) of Etowah, TN, Judith Tinsley of Spartanburg, SC, Barbara Mills (Dalton) of Fernandina Beach, FL, and Martha Jones (Bobby) of Anderson, SC; 9 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and 3 great-great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her first husband, Rev. J. Quinton Carroll and her second husband, Christopher Gwinn. Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 PM Saturday, October 18, 2014, at Floyd's North Church Street Chapel, 235 N. Church St., Spartanburg, SC 29306, by the Rev. Glenn Rusher and eulogists, Mr. David Jones and Miss Deb Bates. Visitation will follow the services at the Chapel. Burial will be in Woodlawn Memorial Park, 19010 Wade Hampton Blvd., Greenville, SC 29615. Memorials may be made to Bethany Baptist Church Choir, 622 Alamo Street, Spartanburg, SC 29303.
