Mary Gray

Mary Louise Gray, 86, of Spartanburg, SC, passed away the evening of Wednesday, October 24, 2018, at Eden Terrace of Spartanburg. Born April 24, 1932, in Sault Ste. Marie, MI, she was the daughter of the late Sulho Jarvie and Lempi A. Jarvie and widow of Donald D. Gray. She was a proud graduate of Sault High School, Class of 1950 and had a continued fondness for the Upper Peninsula! Mary was the devoted, caring mother of Matthew D. Gray (Cassandra), Laurie A. Krell (Michael), and Robert T. Gray. Rob predeceased her in 2016. There were two other children. Mary spent much of her adult life and raised her family in Saginaw, MI. She moved to Spartanburg 38 years ago, from Michigan. Mary was a devoted member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Spartanburg, especially active in Circle 2. She loved church activities, playing bridge, travel, shopping and enjoying social time with friends and family. Mary is survived by her children; her sister, Jeanne Thompson; 10 grandchildren; 2 nieces; and 1 great-grandchild. She also leaves countless friends and caregivers. The family expresses sincere gratitude to staff at Eden Terrace and Hospice of the Carolina Foothills for their loving care of Mary. Visitation will be 9:30-10:30 AM Monday, October 29, 2018, at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel, 2075 E. Main St., Spartanburg, SC 29307, with funeral services following at 11:00 AM, conducted by The Rev. Earl Schafer. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, 1300 Fernwood-Glendale Rd., Spartanburg, SC 29307.
