Mary Gallman Scruggs, 91, of 270 Woodgate Road, formerly of 179 Brown Street, Cowpens, died Tuesday, July 5, 2011, at her home. Born September 12, 1919, in Cherokee County, she was the daughter of the late King David and Etta Waddell Gallman, and wife of the late Dover Scruggs. Mrs. Scruggs was a member of Mt. Olive Baptist Church, Cowpens. Survivors include her daughters, Shirley Wise of Mayo and Lois Wise of Gaffney; grandsons, Herbert Scruggs of Mayo and James Wise of Gaffney; eleven grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by a son, Bobby Scruggs; a daughter, Margaret Scruggs; sisters, Edna Scruggs, Maude Adair, Martha Cudd, and Elva Beheler; and brothers, James and Wallace Gallman. Visitation will be 7:00-9:00 PM Wednesday, July 6, 2011, at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 PM Thursday, July 7, 2011, at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel, by the Rev. Allen Blanton. Burial will be in Mt. Olive Baptist Church Cemetery, Cowpens. Pallbearers are James, Harold, David, Trevor, Wayne Wise, and Herbert Scruggs.
