Mary Alice Ford Fleming, 85, of Spartanburg, went to be with the Lord on Monday, September 26, 2011, at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center after a brief illness. Mrs. Fleming was born August 13, 1926, the daughter of the late James Ewart Ford and Myrtle Mae (Mosley) Ford. She was the widow of Mr. A. Harold Fleming. Mrs. Fleming was a member of First Baptist Church, Spartanburg, SC. She was educated in the Spartanburg City Schools and graduated from Spartanburg Junior (Methodist) College, Class of 1945. Mrs. Fleming had been employed by Southern Bell Telephone, retiring in 1982 as an Employment Manager in the Greenville, SC office. She was a member of Southern Bell Pioneers, South Carolina Genealogical Society (Pinckney District Chapter), Spartanburg Historical Association, and Friends of the Library. She also served several years as the treasurer of Woodland Heights Homeowners Association. She is survived by a daughter, Rosemary A. Fleming; one granddaughter, Holly V. Harrison; two sisters, Mrs. Alfred L. Padgett (Geneva), and Mrs. Rachel Ford McMillan and her husband Lyster B. McMillan, all of Spartanburg; and a sister-in-law, Corine K. Ford of Cocoa, FL. She also had many nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends, whom she loved dearly, and who held her in highest regard. She was predeceased by a sister, Betty Ford Jones; and a brother John Charles Ford. Visitation will be 12:00 noon - 1:30 PM Thursday, September 29, 2011, at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel. Funeral services will follow at 2:00 PM, in the Chapel, with the Rev. Bill Adams and the Rev. Sal Barone officiating. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens.
