Mary "Mae" Brown Farmer, widow of Glen Russell Farmer, of Spartanburg, died Saturday, June 14, 2014, at the Spartanburg Hospital for Restorative Care. The daughter of the late William and Ellen Coyle Brown, she was born January 26, 1926 in Glasgow, Scotland. She graduated from St. Mary's High School and served in the Civil Defense during World War II. She was a retired sales associate with the Belk Hudson Co. in Spartanburg. The matriarch of the Farmer clan is survived by sons, Terry Farmer (Ginni) and Scott Farmer, all of Spartanburg, SC; daughter, Bonnie Shaver of Moore, SC; grandsons, Mike Farmer of Mandeville, LA, and Heath Shaver of Charleston, SC; great-granddaughters, Lyla and Ashlyn Farmer, both of Mandeville, LA. She was predeceased by a brother, James Brown; and a sister, Kathleen Torgersen. The funeral liturgy will be conducted at 3:00 PM Wednesday, June 18, 2014, at the Historic St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church, 161 N. Dean St., Spartanburg, SC 29302.. Entombment will be private.
