Mary Eloise Pettit Morrow, 84, of Spartanburg, formerly of Pauline, SC, died Sunday, April 22, 2012, at Magnolia Manor-Spartanburg. Born May 9, 1927, in Pauline, SC, she was the widow of Robert Nelson Morrow, and daughter of the late Silas Spurgeon and Grace Allen Pettit. Mrs. Morrow was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who was devoted entirely to her family. A graduate of Spartanburg Methodist College, she was a member of Philadelphia Baptist Church, and a retired banker. Surviving are her daughters, Melody Gathright and husband Rodney, and Robin Strickland and husband Kevin, all of Inman; grandchildren, Robert Steven Swink and wife Mandy of Boiling Springs and Mara M. Strickland of Inman; great grandson, Cole Swink of Boiling Springs; sister, Corrie "Pete" Lancaster of Pauline; and step-grandsons, Michael, Joshua, and Andy Gathright of Inman. She was predeceased by sisters, Ruby P. Smith and Rachel P. Smith; and brothers, C. Y. Pettit and Allen W. Pettit. A graveside service will be conducted at 11:00 AM Wednesday, April 25, 2012, in Philadelphia Baptist Church Cemetery, Pauline, SC, by the Rev. Charles M. Eaton. Visitation will follow at the home of Melody and Rodney Gathright, 436 Kennedy Taylor Lane, Inman, SC 29349. Memorials may be made to Interim Hospice, 155 Deacon Tiller Court, Duncan, SC 29334; or Mobile Meals Service, PO Box 461, Spartanburg, SC 29304. The family is at the home of her daughter, Melody and Rodney Gathright.
