Mary Jarrett Donald

Mary Jarrett Donald 92, also known to some as YaYa, passed away Wednesday July 31, 2024, in Charlotte, North Carolina. She was born on March 14, 1932, in Roebuck, South Carolina, to the late Clyde and Louise Jarrett. 

Mary dedicated most of her career to serving others at BJ Workman Hospital in the administration department. Her commitment to helping people extended beyond the workplace as she was noted for her role as a “prayer warrior”. Mary's impact was felt through her professional endeavors and personal connections. One of Mary's proudest accomplishments was the establishment of the "Circle of Women" at River Hills Baptist Church, where she was a devoted member for 25 years. This women’s Bible study group became a source of inspiration and support for many within the community. 

Beyond her dedication to work and family, Mary found joy in cooking and spending quality time with loved ones. Her kind spirit and uplifting presence will be dearly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her. 

Mary is survived by; daughters; Libby Grau, Karen Donald and daughter in law Karon Donald; 4 grandchildren; Matthew Grau (Gianna), Haley Grau, Deanna Phifer (Aaron) and Brooke Foster (Alex); 6 greatgrandchildren; a host of nieces and nephews and a very special friend of many years Jackie Utter. Mary was predeceased by her loving husband of 53 years, Jackie Donald; her father Clyde Jarrett, mother Louise Young Jarrett; a son David Donald and siblings; Betty Moore, Edwin Jarrett and Charles Jarrett. 

A celebration of life will be held Saturday August 10, 2024, at 11:00 am, at The JF Floyd Mortuary Greenlawn Chapel located at 2075 East Main Street Spartanburg, SC 29307. The burial will be private. 

Memorials may be made in honor of Mrs. Mary Donald to: Middle Tyger Community Center 84 Groce Road Lyman, SC 29365. Or to River Hills Baptist Church  5762 Reidville Road Moore, SC 29369.
