Mary D'Entremont

Mary Ellen Abernathy Hendley d'Entremont, 80, of Spartanburg, SC, died Saturday, March 24, 2018, at Spartanburg Medical Center. Born May 12, 1937, in the Canaan Community of Roebuck, SC, she was the daughter of the late Edgar and Lanie McAbee Abernathy. A proud graduate of Roebuck High School, Mrs. d'Entremont was a longtime insurance agent with the E. George Floyd Insurance Agency. She was of the Southern Baptist faith having attended Canaan Baptist Church where she helped coach softball and basketball as well as serving on numerous committees. In later years, she attended Southside Baptist Church. Survivors include her husband, Donald Joseph d'Entremont; daughter, April Hendley Watterson (Thomas) of Spartanburg, SC; son, William David Hendley, II (Jill) and their children, William Joseph Hendley and Madeline Grace Hendley, all of Spartanburg, SC; step-children, Paul David d'Entremont, Gary Lee d'Entremont, Sharon Anne Huffman, and Jeanne Louise d'Entremont; other grandchildren, Anthony Ellis Watterson and Timothy Franklin Watterson, Andrea Faith Yeager, Elizabeth Jane Hile, Brian d'Entremont and Anna d'Entremont, Dr. Jeremy Anderson, Ronald, Steven, David, and John Huffman; 14 great-grandchildren; brother, John Abernathy; and sister, Ida Splawn. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her first husband, William David Hendley; grandson, David Alexander Watterson; and sister, Marie Nelms. A graveside service will be conducted at 2:29 PM Thursday, March 29, 2018, in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, 1300 Fernwood-Glendale Rd., Spartanburg, SC 29307. Visitation will follow at the graveside.
