Mary Dee Coke

October 27, 1941 — September 5, 2024

Spartanburg

Mary Dee Coke 82, a devoted caregiver and beloved matriarch, passed away on Thursday, September 05,2024 in Spartanburg, South Carolina. Mary was born on October 27, 1941, in Helena, Arkansas to the late Eddie and Hester Anderson- Hilton.

Mary's spirit was marked by her hard work and dedication, as she worked as a caregiver for over forty plus years. Reading was one of her greatest pastimes, allowing her to travel the world without ever leaving her chair. She found joy in the simplicity of bird watching, especially when the vibrant red cardinals graced her garden—an emblem of her love for nature and its quiet beauty. Mary also had a fondness for watching television, particularly soap operas, indulging in the stories and character arcs that captivated her days.

Mary is survived by her 3 children; Gina Vickers (Mike), Thomas “Tad” Dillard (Kellie), Roger “Dee” Aaron (Stacey); 11 grandchildren; Andrew Dillard, Jolee Dillard, Jamie Pope (Bobby), Randell Fitts, Will Vickers (Shelly), Christopher Aaron (Jennifer), Brian Aaron, Megan Aaron (Courtney), BJ Denney (Megan), Clifton Denney (Stevie), Taylor Cansler (Isaac); 22 Great grandchildren and one niece Deborah Beard. Mary was preceded in death by her father; Eddie Hilton, Mother Hester Anderson-Hilton; a granddaughter Kayla Fitts and two sisters; Reva Coldiron and Phyllis Fisher.

Though Mary has left this world, the embrace of her caring spirit endures in the lives she touched. Her memory will live on in the stories told around the family gatherings and in the soft whispers of the red cardinals that visit the places she loved.
