Mary "Kay" Carroll

Mary "Kay" Carroll, passed away peacefully on October 8, 2024, in Greenville, South Carolina, at the age of 96. Born on April 1, 1928, in Okemah, Oklahoma, to the late Roy E. and Elizabeth Sefton Suppes. 

Kay was a loving wife to her husband, Leonard Carroll, with whom she shared 76 years of marriage. Their partnership was a testament to love and devotion, rich with shared experiences and adventures. Together, they moved to Spartanburg in 1954, where they became active members of the First Baptist Church of Spartanburg. Her faith was a cornerstone of her life, as evidenced by her involvement in Young Life, Christian Women's Club, and her Sunday School class.

She is survived by her children, Roy Leonard Carroll (Tami) and Debra Carroll; her grandchildren: Brian Hough (Nadine) of Hamburg, Germany; Will Hough of Portland, OR; Scott Carroll of Chattanooga, TN; and Shaylen Carroll of Nashville, TN. Her great-grandchildren, Jakob and Ashlen Carroll of Chattanooga, TN, Merle Meyer and Henry Hough of Hamburg, Germany, were often the source of her laughter and joy, she had a remarkable ability to connect with each of them.

With a great sense of humor, Kay loved to share laughter with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren creating memories that will be cherished. In her younger years, she was a talented seamstress.

Kay and Leonard traveled extensively, exploring the world from Norway to China. Each journey brought new experiences and stories, but some of their happiest moments were spent with her family on the road, especially during vacations to their favorite place, Panama City, Florida.

A Celebration of Life honoring Kay will be held 11:00 AM on Saturday, October 12, 2024, at First Baptist Church of Spartanburg, 250 E. Main St., Spartanburg, SC 29306. Service will be officiated by the Rev. Sal Barone and the Rev. Robert Morgan.

Mary "Kay" Carroll's radiant spirit and dedication to her loved ones leave an indelible mark on all who had the privilege of knowing her.
