Mary Gregory

Mary C. Gregory, 98 formerly of Spartanburg and Inman, SC, died Wednesday, September 10, 2014 at Clemson, SC. Born February 11, 1916, in Spartanburg, SC, she was the daughter of the late James Elijah Cothran and Louise Grady Terrell Cothran, and widow of William White "Bill" Gregory, Jr. Mrs. Gregory received her BS Degree in Nursing from Duke University and retired from Inman Elementary School District #1 after 14 years of service in Special Education and as a nurse. She was a member of Covenant Presbyterian Church in Spartanburg and a former member of Inman Presbyterian Church. She was also a former member of the Woman's Club of Inman, the PTA, and the National Campers & Hikers Association. Survivors include her son, William "Buddy" White Gregory III and his wife Norma of Tampa, FL; daughters, Sarah Dean Boylston of Seneca, SC, and Mary Jane and her husband Lewis Saras of Sugarloaf, PA; 7 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild; numerous nieces and nephews; sister, Jane Hinnant of Lexington, SC; and brothers, James E. Cothran and his wife Olga of Columbia, SC, William J. "Billy" Cothran and his wife Jessie Ruth of Inman, SC; and sister-in-law, Naomi R. Cothran of Lexington, SC. She was predeceased by her brother John Robert Cothran; and son-in-law Lucian DeMont "Monty" Boylston. Visitation will be 10:00-10:45 AM Friday, September 12, 2014, at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel, 2075 E. Main St., Spartanburg, SC 29307. Funeral services will follow at 11:00 AM, at the Chapel. Burial will be in Roselawn Memorial Gardens, 1451 Compton Bridge Rd., Inman, SC 29349. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to a charity of one's choice.
