Mary Boatwright

Mary Jo Littlejohn Boatwright, 82, of Spartanburg, SC died Saturday, November 19, 2016 at Valley Falls Terrace. Born March 20, 1934 in Roebuck, SC, she was the daughter of the late Joe Maxwell and Mary Dean Littlejohn. Mary Jo was retired from Butte Knit after 34 years of service as a seamstress. She was of the Baptist faith. She loved gardening, collecting elephants and enjoyed sewing. Survivors include her loving husband of 41 years, Gordon Emil Boatwright; daughters Vonnie Richards (Fred) of Spartanburg; Vickie Horton of Boiling Springs; sons, Barry Ponder (Gail) of Una; Bobby Ponder of Richland; 22 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren, and two great-great grandchildren (whom all loved and called her Great Nana); sister, Nan Frazier of Gaston. She was predeceased by a son, Terry Ronald Ponder; great grandson, Jonah Cantrell; and two brothers, Joe Maxwell Littlejohn and Michel Joe Littlejohn. Visitation will be 1:00 - 1:45 PM Tuesday, November 22, 2016 at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel, 2075 East Main Street, Spartanburg, SC 29307. Funeral service will be 2:00 PM at the chapel. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, 1300 Fernwood-Glendale Road, Spartanburg, SC 29307. The family will be at their respective homes.
