Mary Benson

Mary McCauley Hughston Benson passed on Sunday, December 4, 2011, peacefully at the age of 94. She was a retired school librarian from Districe Six.. She was preceded in death by her parents, Mary Hancock McCauley and George Franklin Hughston, Sr. M.D.; husband, David Lee Benson; sisters, Elizabeth H. Benson and Margaret H. Culberston, Nancy Kathleen Hughston; her brothers, George Franklin Hughston, Jr. M.D. and Thomas Newton "Newt" Hughston; and son-in-law, Jon W. Pupene. She is survived by a daughter, Mary Pupene; and son, Thomas Benson; one brother, James Hughston; sisters-in-law, Jane Hughston and Louise Hughston; brothers-in-law, James Vallee and James Culberston; and nieces, nephews and cousins. Family wishes to thank Notre Dame Hospice of New Orleans for their care. Graveside Services will be Monday, December 12, 2011 at 2:00 PM at the Fairforest Baptist Church Cemetery in Fairforest, SC.
