Mary Anne Wood Johnson, 91, of Spartanburg, met her Heavenly Father on Friday, February 17, 2023. She was the widow of Hubert E. Johnson and the daughter of the late Carl S. And Beulah W. Wood.
Mary Anne was born in Lockhart, SC on November 23, 1931, and was a graduate of the class of 1950 of Spartanburg High School. She was a retiree of Sears Roebuck & Co.
Mary Anne was a faithful member of Southside Baptist Church and had served in the preschool department. She was also a member of the adult choir for many years and the Joy Sunday School class. She served as a volunteer at Spartanburg Medical Center for 20 years and was a resident of Eden Terrace.
Mary Anne is survived by two daughters, Sandra J. Campbell (Mark) of Spartanburg, SC and Susan J Collier (Mark) of Greer, SC; one son, Alan P. Johnson (Charlie) of Roebuck, SC. Her nine grandchildren include: Chris Campbell (Liz), Anna Davis (Dewayne), David Collier, Bailey Nevels (Alex), Holly Lambka (Chris), Katie Lethco (Jeremy), Matthew Collier (Gina), Ben Collier, and Grayson Johnson. She was blessed with 15 great-grandchildren: Claire and Andrew Campbell; Dex, Campbell, Daphne, and Mary Woods Davis; Zoe and James Nevels; Bowen and Lydia Lambka; Judah and Lilly Lethco; and Madison, Thomas, and Teagan Collier. She is also survived by a brother, Billy W. Wood of Spartanburg and a sister-in-law, Sonia Ellis of Huntsville AL. She was predeceased by two brothers, Dr. Harold Wood, and Hansel Wood and two sisters, Florence Painter, and Juanita Wood.
The Visitation will be held on Tuesday, February 21, 2023, from 12:00 pm until 1:30 pm in the church parlor at Southside Baptist Church, 316 S. Church Street, Spartanburg, SC 29306. Funeral Services will follow at 2:00 pm, in the same church, conducted by Reverend Dr. Schuyler Peterson and Reverend Dr. Benjamin Littlejohn. Burial will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, 1300 Fernwood-Glendale Road, Spartanburg, SC, 29307. Her grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
