John Marvin Melton, 72, of 1118 Merlot Court, Moore, died Saturday, September 29, 2012, at Spartanburg Regional Hospice Home. Born August 15, 1940, in Roebuck, SC, he was a son of the late John N. and Ruth Coggins Melton. He was a graduate of Roebuck High School, Class of 1958, and a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving during the Berlin Crisis. Marvin was the owner of Melton Bros. Embroidery in Moore, SC, and former board member of Woodruff-Roebuck Water District and the Spartanburg County School Board. He was a member of Three Pines Country Club and Bethlehem Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Kay Lee Melton; two daughters and sons-in-law: Kim and Donnie Wingo of Mooresville, NC and Sheryl and Mark Elliott of Roebuck, SC. Also, four precious grandchildren: Erin and Coleman Wingo and Chad and Kate Elliott. Other survivors include two brothers, Harold (Betty) Melton of Woodruff and Paul (Marci) Melton of Spartanburg; a sister, Mabel Hayes of Woodruff; sister-in-law Connie Hendrix (Walt) of Rosman, NC; several special nieces and nephews and many, many special friends. He was predeceased by a sister, Helen Sutherland and a brother, Herman Melton. Visitation will be 6:00-8:00 PM Sunday, September 30, 2012, at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM Monday, October 1, 2012, at Bethlehem Baptist Church, conducted by the Rev. Joe Burnett, the Rev. James Oliver, and the Rev. Kevin Harrison.
