Marvin Jones

James Marvin Jones, 84, of Moore, SC, died peacefully, surrounded by his family on Sunday, December 2, 2018, at Spartanburg Medical Center, after a courageous battle with cancer. Born November 29, 1934, in Spartanburg, SC, he was the son of the late J. H. Jones Jr. and Della Elizabeth Thornton Jones. A U. S. Air Force veteran, Mr. Jones was a faithful member of Burnsview Baptist Church. He retired from Milliken & Company after 44 years of service and was also a member of Three Pines Country Club for over 30 years. Survivors include his wife of 29 years, Patricia Ann Wilson Jones; children, Susan Jones of Piedmont, SC, Gordon Brooks (Shannon) of Woodruff, SC, Tammy Hester (Dennis) of Prosperity, SC, and Kenny Brooks of Taylors, SC; grandchildren, William Brooks, Emma-Kait Brooks, Dennis Hester, and Charlene Smith; sister, Elaine Smoak (Garland); brother, Bobby Gossett; sister-in-law, Rebecca Smith; mother-in-law, Maleen Crocker; and nieces, Cindy, Beanie, Robin, and Karen. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a son, Tim Jones. A service honoring his memory will be conducted at 3:00 PM Friday, December 7, 2018, at Burnsview Baptist Church, by The Rev. Tim Huckaby. Visitation will follow the service.
