Marvin Coble

December 31, 1913 — March 18, 2010

Marvin Coble, 96, of Spartanburg, passed into eternal rest on Thursday, March 18, 2010, at the Spartanburg Regional Hospice Home. Born December 31, 1913, in Salisbury, NC, he was the son of the late William Lee and Dessie Kesler Coble. A 1931 graduate of Chapman High School, he was retired from Community Cash Stores after 45 years of service. He was a member of Fairforest Baptist Church where he was a member of the K. E. Fain Sunday School Class and the Young at Heart. He was a U.S. Army Veteran of World War II, having served in the 118th Infantry and fought in the Battle of the Bulge. Survivors include his loving wife of 64 years, Dorothy Wilson Coble; a daughter, Kathy Suzanne Heaps and her husband Eugene Richard Heaps of Spartanburg; grandchildren, Joshua Austin Ford, Ashley Suzanne Horton, and Tony Alexander Horton, all of Spartanburg; several nieces and nephews, including a special nephew, Edward Coble; and two sisters, Martha Nichols of Seattle, WA, and Helen Bridges of Queensland, Australia. He was predeceased by two sons, Marvin Michael Coble and Douglas Wayne Coble; four brothers; and three sisters. Visitation will be 1:00-1:45 p.m. Sunday, March 21, 2010, at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens Heritage Chapel Mausoleum. Services with military rites will follow at 2:00 p.m. at the Mausoleum conducted by the Rev. Joe Dempsey. The family kindly requests that memorials be made to Fairforest Baptist Church, P. O.
