Martha Slater

Martha Davis Slater, 75, of Spartanburg, SC, died Saturday, December 22, 2018 at Spartanburg Medical Center. Born February 8, 1943 in Hayesville, NC, she was the daughter of the late Jess I. and Jessie Jacobs Davis. Martha was retired from Crown, Cork and Seal after 42 years of service. Survivors include a son, Michael Slater (Sandy) of Chesnee, SC and a daughter, Sandra Slater Johnson of Spartanburg, SC; grandsons, Spencer Johnson of Lyman, SC, Brett Slater of Boiling Springs, SC, and Travis Caldwell (Heather) of Reidville, SC; granddaughters, Rebecca Koch of Spartanburg, SC, Shawna Johnson (Mamaw's "Shawna Sudie") (Brandon Dutton) of Spartanburg, SC; and great grandchildren, Brayden Dutton, Jess Johnson, Cheyenne Rae Davis, Maelyn Caldwell and Landry Caldwell; sisters, Mary Barrett of Rogersville, TN and Jewel Parr (Norman) of Boiling Springs, SC; and many nieces and nephews she loved dearly. She was also predeceased by sisters, Susie Weems, Patsy Williamson, and Doris Davis, her life partner, Adam Kieffer and her former husband, the late Hickman Slater. A funeral service will be at 2:00 PM Wednesday, December 26, 2018 at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel, 2075 East Main Street, Spartanburg, SC 29307, conducted by The Rev. Ronnie Norris. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, 1300 Fernwood-Glendale Road, Spartanburg, SC 29307. Visitation will follow at the graveside.
