Martha Nekkoline Bakke, 96, of Spartanburg, died Friday, January 4, 2013, at Spartanburg Regional Hospice Home. Born June 29, 1916, in Chicago, IL, she was the widow of Thormod Ingmar Bakke and daughter of the late Ole E. and Karen Anderson Bakke. Mrs. Bakke was retired from Illinois Bell after 39 years of service. She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, Circle Two, and The Telephone Pioneers of America. Survivors include her nieces, Karen Lou Bakke and Martha Ruth Bakke, both of Spartanburg. In addition to her husband and parents, she was predeceased by her brothers, Orville Bakke and John Erling Bakke and his wife Eva Lou Turpin Bakke. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 PM Thursday, January 10, 2013, at St. John's Lutheran Church, by the Rev. Michael Shackelford and the Rev. Emily Edenfield. Visitation will follow the service. Burial will be at a later date in Irving Park Cemetery, Chicago, IL.
