Martha Kathleen McClellan, 94, of Spartanburg, SC, passed away Wednesday, February 25, 2015, at Skylyn Place. Born November 8, 1920, in Cowpens, SC, she was the daughter of the late William Edward and Carrie Vassey Willis, and widow of Floyd Walter McClellan, Jr. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. Mrs. McClellan received her BA Degree from Converse College and Master's Degree at UNC Greensboro. She was a teacher for Spartanburg District 7 schools for over 40 years. The highlight of her career was time spent working with students at The Charles Lea Center. During her retirement, she was assigned to be a substitute teacher at Charles Lea for only three days and remained on staff for 18 years. She touched the lives of several generations of students and loved helping people. Mrs. McClellan did volunteer work throughout Spartanburg County for many years and was a founding member of Spartanburg Property Owners Management Association (SPOMA). She was an excellent seamstress, enjoyed ceramics, and was a member of Cedar Springs Baptist Church. Survivors include daughter, Martha Ann McClellan Bradley and son-in-law Ken of Pauline, SC; son, Robert E. McClellan and daughter-in-law Sue of Pauline, SC; three granddaughters, Juli McClellan of Hilton Head Island, Laura McClellan Mittleman and husband Seth of Spartanburg, SC, and Beth Bradley of Spartanburg, SC; and a number of nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by a sister, Jo Carolyn Westmoreland; and brother, William Edward Willis. Funeral services will be conducted at 4:00 PM Saturday, February 28, 2015, at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel, 2075 E. Main St., Spartanburg, SC 29307. Visitation will follow the service at the chapel.
