Marshall Deree "Mutt" Fain, 76, of Spartanburg, died Wednesday, February 23, 2011, at Spartanburg Hospital for Restorative Care. Born May 31, 1934, he was the son of the late Ernest Creed and Maude Elizabeth White Fain. Mr. Fain was a U. S. Army veteran, a supervisor at Pentex-Alkan Woven Labels for 36 years, and was of the Baptist faith. Survivors include his wife Betty Sullivan Fain; two sons, Marshall Aaron Fain and his wife Nancy, and Darrell Deree Fain and his wife Angela all of Spartanburg; two daughters, Susan Fain Bennett and her husband Ricky of Roebuck, and Cathey Allen and her husband Mitchell of Florence; a son-in-law, John Miller of Spartanburg; nine grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; brothers and sisters, Roy Fain and Diane Higgins both of Cowpens. He was predeceased by a daughter, Rebecca Lynn Miller; and brothers and sisters, Doris Fain Wood, Jessie Fain, Jennie Lee Fain Silvey, and Creed Fain, Jr. Graveside services will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday, February 26, 2011 at Sunset Memorial Park, conducted by the Rev. Mike Stubblefield. The family is at the home of his son, Darrell Fain, 620 Thompson Chapel Rd., Spartanburg, SC.
