Marlyn Corn

Richard Marlyn Corn, 74, of 210 Cunningham Street, died Sunday, September 6, 2009, at the Spartanburg Regional Hospice Home. Born September 8, 1934, in Spartanburg, SC, he was the son of the late H. M. and Gwendolyn Waddell Corn. He was a retired Electrical Technician with Hoechst Celanese, a U.S. Army Veteran, a member of Westgate Free Will Baptist Church, Arcadia Masonic Lodge #285, Hejaz Shriners, and the Hillbilly Motorcade Club. Survivors include his wife, Mary "Tillie" R. Corn; a step-daughter, Marsha Wood and her husband Brian of Arcadia; a step-son, William Hall, Jr. of Arcadia; a granddaughter, Linda Orr, and two great-grandchildren, Terry and Scott Ponder, who were raised in the home. Other survivors include grandchildren, April Brown, Jason Hall, and William Hall, III; and several great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his first wife Bernice Corn; and a sister, Margaret Sawyer. Visitation will be 6:00-9:00 p.m. Tuesday, September 8, 2009, with Masonic Rites at 6:00 p.m. at Floyd's North Church Chapel. Funeral services will be at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, September 9, 2009, at Westgate Free Will Baptist Church conducted by the Rev. Kevin Smith and the Rev. David Conner. Entombment will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens Mausoleum Complex. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Hillbilly Motorcade Club with whom he shared his love and knowledge of antique cars. Memorials may be made to Shriner's Hospital for Children, 950 West Faris Road, Greenville, SC 29605; or to Westgate Free Will Baptist Church Building Fund, P. O. Box 219, Arcadia, SC 29320.
