Marjorie Louise ‘Marge' Scruggs, 87, of Spartanburg, died Sunday, January 9, 2011, at White Oak Estates. Born January 16, 1923 in Albertville, AL, she was the daughter of the late James Ottis and Ruth Anne Hodges Scruggs. She retired from Smith's Drug Store # 1 and was a member of First Baptist Church of Spartanburg since 1937, where she was a choir member for more than 50 years, a member of Young-at-Heart, active in WMU, and a member of the Naomi Sunday School Class. She also served as secretary in the 3-year-old Sunday School Department for over 25 years. Marge was a former member of the Ladies' Board of the Spartanburg YMCA, The Spartanburg Music club, and the Spartanburg Athletic Club. Local survivors include a sister, Marilyn F. Scruggs; a niece, Candy Neely Arrington (Jim) and their children, Neely and Jay; a sister-in-law, Louise S. Scruggs of College Park, GA; and nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. She was predeceased by her sister, Mildred Ruth S. Neely; and two brothers, Bernard Ottis Scruggs and James Hodges Scruggs. Visitation will be 12:30-1:45 p.m. Friday, January 14, 2011 at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel. Funeral services will follow at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel, conducted by the Rev. Dr. Don Wilton, the Rev.
