Marjorie G. Key died Saturday, January 11, 2014, at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center. Born on May 22, 1935 in Spartanburg, she was a daughter of the late Charles and Ida Hitt Brown and was first married to the late Fred Gossett and then to the late James H. Key. Margie was retired from Northside Correctional Center after 17 years of service and also was the manager at Standard Dress Shop. Margie was the past owner of Key's Fashion Dress Shop. She was a member of West View Church where she attended the Aquilla and Priscilla Sunday School Class and love to sing in the choir. Mrs. Key is survived by her daughters, Sallie Key Lemmons (David) and Teresa Gossett; her son, James Nelson "Jim" Key; her five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her brothers, Robert and Jack Brown; and her sisters, Elizabeth Marr and Louise Mabry.. The family will receive friends from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. Monday at Floyd's North Church Street Chapel, 235 North Church Street, Spartanburg, SC 29306. Funeral service will be 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, January 14, 2014, at Floyd's North Church Street Chapel, conducted by the Rev. Richard Peters and the Rev. Stephen C. Johnson. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Park. Memorials may be made to Connie Maxwell Childrens Home, P. O. Box 1178, Greenwood, SC 29648. The family is at the home of her son, Jim Key.
