Marilyn Madsen

Marilyn K. Madsen, 85 of Spartanburg, SC, died Sunday, September 26, 2021 at Summit Hills. Born November 27, 1935 in Oneida, NY, she was the daughter of the late Raymond and Marleah Kingsley, and the wife of the late Peter Madsen.

Marilyn was a devoted wife, married 59 years to Peter and mother of four children. She was a physical education teacher in Hilton NY, for more than 30 years. She loved to spend time boating and swimming at her vacation home in Verona Beach, New York, and enjoyed playing golf and singing in the local choir during her retirement years while living at Woodlake Country Club in Vass NC. She moved to Summit Hills in Spartanburg SC in 2017 where she enjoyed participating in the community’s social activities.

Survivors include her children, Peter R. Madsen (Polly) of Brockport, NY, Richard T. Madsen (Geralyn) of Chapel Hill, NC, Ann Sceri (Vincent) of Wallkill, NY, James Madsen (Alice) of Spartanburg, SC, her grandchildren, Tara (Jamie), Andrew, Stephen, William (Kim), Robert, Veronica (Tyler), Vincent, Jr., Jack, and Benjamin, and her great grandchildren, Luca, Dominic and Genevieve.

A Memorial service will be 2:00 PM Sunday, October 3, 2021 at First Presbyterian Church, 393 E. Main Street, Spartanburg, SC 29302, conducted by The Rev. Joann Hull.
