Marie Powell Strange, 74, of Spartanburg, died Wednesday, November 9, 2011, at Spartanburg Regional Hospice Home. Born, January 27, 1937, in Spartanburg, she was the daughter of the late Lewis Ray and Beulah Bell McCracken Powell. Marie was a veteran of the U. S. Air Force. She was a member of Grace Baptist Church, a tireless volunteer for the Downtown Soup Kitchen and U.N.A. Organization for afterschool kids, and was retired from Willard Oil. Survivors include her loving husband of 45 years, Frank K. Strange; son, Steve Salazar of Spartanburg; daughter, Terri Bridges and husband Henry of Boiling Springs; adopted daughter, Rhonda Robinson of New Prospect; grandchildren, Jessica, Cory, Kyle, and Noah; brothers, Lanny Powell of Pennsylvania, and Harry Powell and wife Rita of Spartanburg; sisters, Jane Rollins and husband Don of Spartanburg, and Janice Lavender of Wellford. She was predeceased by a son, Craig Strange. Visitation will be 10:00-10:45 AM Saturday, November 12, 2011, at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel. Funeral services will follow at 11:00 AM in the Chapel, conducted by the Rev. Kenneth Cash and Pastor Bill Pickel. Burial will be in Fort Prince Memorial Gardens, Wellford.
