Marie Hayes

Marie Gwinn Hayes, 92, of Spartanburg, died Sunday, August 30, 2009, in Fort Worth, TX. Born January 11, 1917, in the Walnut Grove community, she was the daughter of the late Mansel Bookter and Julia O'Shields Gwinn and the wife of the late Lucian Leroy Hayes. She was a member of Morningside Baptist Church and loved her flowers, garden, and family. Survivors include a son, Hugh L. Hayes of Spartanburg; a daughter, Dora H. Rousey and her husband Jim of Fort Worth, TX; ten grandchildren; and twenty great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by a daughter, Frances Hayes Maxwell, and was the last surviving member of her immediate family. Graveside services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, September 3, 2009, in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens conducted by the Rev. Dr. Kirk H. Neely and the Rev. Mike McGee.
