Aiken, SC – Marie Ann (Aho) Fisher, 87, passed away Wednesday, October 30, 2024.
Marie was a native of Redridge, MI and the daughter of the late Wallace and Lempi Aho, Sr. She graduated from Lincoln High School and Highland Park Junior College in the Detroit area.
She was predeceased by her husband Jim, after 57 years of marriage. They lived in New Orleans, LA where they helped found the Crescent City CB Club, serving the city during Mardi Gras parades and with hurricane Betsy rescues. They moved to Bowling Green, KY and during their 14 years there,
Marie was an executive assistant at Lord Corporation and served as President of the Professional Secretaries Association, and as Secretary of the Women’s Bowling League. They moved to Aiken, SC in 1983 where Marie was an executive assistant at Gorham Bronze prior to retiring. She made an incredibly delicious apple pie and loved reading. In her first job at 18 years old, Marie used her excellent command of English to write speeches for a company executive. However, she chose family over career and bestowed a lot of TLC as a wife, mother, and grandmother.
She is survived by her brother, Wallace L. Aho, Jr. of Troy, MI; her daughter, Barbara Key and son-in-law Ron Key, of Spartanburg, SC; and two grandchildren, Kathryn “Katie” and Lacey.
A graveside service will be held Saturday, November 2, 2024, at 1:00 pm at Southlawn Cemetery in Aiken, SC.
In lieu of flowers, please make contributions in memory of Marie Fisher to the Alzheimer’s Association at alz.org.
