Marianne Burfete

Marianne Landers Burfete, 56, of Spartanburg, died Monday, December 21, 2009, at Spartanburg Hospital for Restorative Care. Born February 2, 1953, in Spartanburg, SC, she was the daughter of Judson and Margaret Moser Landers of Pensacola, FL. A graduate of the University of South Carolina-Spartanburg, she was an exemplary elementary school teacher with Spartanburg School District 7, having taught at Z. L. Madden, Park Hills, Jesse Boyd, Pine Street, and most recently at Houston Elementary School. She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church and charter member of the Dot Lyles Circle and a member of Alpha Delta Kappa Sorority for teachers. Surviving in addition to her parents is her husband, Mark Burfete; a son, Jeremy William Greene and his wife Jennifer of Spartanburg; a daughter, Margaret Jane "Maggie" Burfete of the home; a sister, Susan Landers and her husband Phillip Berry of Austin, TX; and two brothers, Ted Landers and his wife Betty Ann of Jupiter, FL, and Bennett Landers and his wife Linda of Colorado Springs, CO. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, December 29, 2009, at Trinity United Methodist Church conducted by the Rev. Dr. A. Stephen Holler and the Rev. Heather B. Humphries. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens. Visitation will follow the service at the home, 101 Sydnor Road, Spartanburg, SC 29307.
