Marian Brett Unger, 85, of Spartanburg, SC, died Sunday, October 22, 2017, at Spartanburg Regional Hospice Home. Born November 16, 1931, in Brooklyn, NY, she was the daughter of the late Max and Dorothy Lato Brett and widow of Irving Arthur Unger. Mrs. Unger received her Bachelors Degree at Augusta College. She also received her first Masters Degree from Georgia State University and second Masters Degree from Bread Loaf College in Vermont. She was a retired educator, a member of Temple B'nai Israel, a lifetime member of Hadassah, an avid reader and Bridge player. Survivors include her daughters, Sandy Gordin and husband Stephen of Inman, SC, Carol Unger and husband Jose of Johns Creek, GA, Lisa Schoer and husband Jack of Cumming, GA; 11 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; brother, Steve Brett of Augusta, GA; and niece, Rebecca Siebel of Inman, SC. A memorial service will be conducted at 6:00 PM Tuesday, October 24, 2017, at Temple B'nai Israel, with Rabbi Yossi Liebowitz officiating. No flowers please.
