Marian Bolton

Marian Elaine Bearden Bolton, 64, of Woodruff, SC, passed away after a brief illness on Saturday, February 11, 2017 at Spartanburg Regional Hospice Home. A native of Spartanburg County, she was born April 5, 1952, she was the daughter of the late John Cannon and Iris Dorn Bearden. Marian was a graduate of the Class of 1970 at James F. Byrnes High School and completed her education at University of SC-Upstate and Converse College. She retired after 28 years in a successful career as an educator in Spartanburg County School District Five. She was an avid reader and a gifted writer, and she inspired a love of reading in the hearts of the many students she touched in her career. Marian was a member of Element Church in Woodruff, SC where she loved participating in worship and small group Bible Study. She cherished spending time with family, especially her precious grandchildren who call her "Nonny." She also had a deep love for animals, and will be greatly missed by her three dogs, Cotton, Georgia, and Bo. Survivors include her husband, Joel Embry Bolton; son, Jason Alan Williams (Ali E.) of Roebuck, SC; daughter, Erin Bolton Harrison (Benjamin) of Woodruff, SC; four grandchildren, Peyton Williams, Garrett Williams, Deacon Harrison and Bolton Harrison. She is also survived by her sisters, Janet B. Sherbert (Max) and Nancy B. High (Jeff) all of Duncan, SC; three nephews, Jarrad High, Justin High, and Chris Sherbert. Along with her parents, she was also predeceased by her first husband, Alan R. Williams. Visitation will be 1:00 - 2:45 PM, Tuesday, February 14, 2017 at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel, 2075 East Main Street, Spartanburg, SC 29307. Funeral service will follow at 3:00 PM at the chapel, conducted by the Rev. Bill Thomason. Burial will follow in Nazareth Presbyterian Church Cemetery, 680 Nazareth Church Road, Moore, SC 29369. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Spartanburg Regional Hospice House, 686 Jeff Davis Drive, Spartanburg, SC 29303.
