Maria Gutierrez

Maria Teresa Gutierrez, 96, of Spartanburg, died Monday, September 28, 2009, at her home. Born October 15, 1912, in Orizaba, Veracruz, Mexico, she was the daughter of the late Felipe and Mercedes Celis Arberas and the wife of the late Alfonso Gutierrez. She became a U.S. citizen in 1995 and was of the Catholic faith. Survivors include three sons, Alfonso Gutierrez of the home, Carlos Dario Gutierrez of Spartanburg, and Luis Eduardo Gutierrez of Ridgewood, NJ; eight grandchildren, Alfonso Gutierrez, Jr. and wife Kindal of Rockaway, NJ, Teresa G. Poplin and husband Issac of Greenville, John C. Gutierrez and wife Brandy of Spartanburg, Dr. Suzanna G. Davis and fianc Greg Duckett of Toccoa, GA, Patricia G. Smith and husband Jeremy of Redmond, WA, Luis Eduardo Gutierrez and wife Elissa of Philadelphia, PA, Andres Roberto Gutierrez of North Haledon, NJ, and Laura Cristina Gutierrez of Ridgewood, NJ; and thirteen great-grandchildren, Austin and Corey Gutierrez of Atlanta, GA, Catherine Grey, Issac S., and Charles C. Poplin of Greenville, John Clayton, Graham L., Jackson C., and Joseph C. Gutierrez of Spartanburg, Abigail P., Berkeley C., and Evelyn M. Smith of Redmond, WA, and Athena Gutierrez of Philadelphia, PA. Visitation will be 3:00-3:45 p.m. Thursday, October 1, 2009, at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel. A Christian Burial service will follow at 4:00 p.m. at the Chapel conducted by the Rev. James M. Crowley. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens.
