Margaret Elizabeth Dotson Worthy, 86, of Spartanburg, passed away on Friday, February 11, 2011, at A. Sam Karesh Long Term Care in Camden, SC. Born May 31, 1924, in Spartanburg, SC, she was the daughter of the late Robert Jason and Mary Sue Fulbright Dotson and widow of the late William Harley Worthy. A member of Calvary Baptist Church, she was a gracious and nurturing homemaker who loved her family and friends and enjoyed gardening, cooking, crocheting, and caring for her cat. She sang "You Are My Sunshine" to all of us and she had a way of making each child and grandchild feel so special. She was our sunshine. She is survived by two daughters, Mary W. McCarter and her husband Jerry of Boiling Springs, and Kathi W. Courtney and her husband Rick of Camden; a son, Ronald D. worthy and his wife Gail of Lyman; thirteen grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; and three sisters, Betty D. Prater of Phoenix City, AL, Grace D. Jolley of Chesnee, and Rachel Dotson of Spartanburg. She was preceded in death by a son and daughter-in-law, William Donald and Betty W. Worthy; two grandsons, Robbie Worthy and Donnie Worthy; sisters, Bonnie D. Fowler and Nellie D. Lynch; and brothers, Robert "Buddy" Dotson and James Dotson. The family welcomes friends 7:00-9:00 P.M. Sunday, February 13, 2011 at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel. Funeral services honoring her life will be held at 11:00 A,M, Monday, February 14, 2011 at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel, conducted by the Rev. D. Scott Linnerud. Interment will be in Springhill Memorial Gardens in Chesnee. Grandsons and great-grandsons will serve as pallbearers. The family would like to express our sincere thanks to Mrs. Jeanne Hanley and the entire staff of the A. Sam Karesh Facility for their ministry, love, and compassionate care. Also, to the many residents and family members who helped us along this journey. We also want to thank Anita DuBose F.N.P., Dr. Tallulah Holstrom, M.D., and Kershaw Health Hospice for their kind and professional care.
