Margaret McCarley Wagner, 92, of Spartanburg, died peacefully on Tuesday, March 7, 2017, at the Presbyterian Home in Clinton, SC. She was the daughter of the late John and Frances McAbee McCarley and widow of the late Rev. Joseph C. Wagner. Margaret was an active member of First Presbyterian Church of Spartanburg. She was an avid reader, loved classical music, her family and the church. She will be missed by all who knew her. Joe and Margaret traveled Europe yearly, especially enjoying Scotland. Surviving are a daughter, Julia Wagner Wicker (Randy) of Spartanburg; three grandchildren, Benjamin Kittrell, Pierce Wicker, and Alexandra Wicker; a beloved sister-in-law, Louise Holt McCarley; two nieces, Cindy Langston (John) and Missie Patterson (Todd); and a nephew, Rob McCarley (Leesa). In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by a brother, James Robert McCarley. A memorial service honoring her life will be conducted at 3:00 PM Sunday, March 12, 2017, at First Presbyterian Church of Spartanburg, by the Rev. Dr. Thomas Evans and the Rev. Debbie Johnson (Chaplain at the Presbyterian Home in Clinton). Visitation will follow the service in the church parlor.
