Margaret Rhinehart

Margaret Virginia Smith Rhinehart, 86, of Lexington, SC, died peacefully on Tuesday, January 10, 2012, after a long battle with dementia. Born October 27, 1925, in Gaffney, SC, she was the daughter of the late Oliver G. Smith, Sr., and Margaret Strain Smith. She was of the Christian faith. She dearly loved her entire family and is survived by her loving husband, Joseph Calvin Rhinehart of The Bethany at Heritage of Lowman, White Rock, SC; her children, Elaine Sessions of Ridgeway, SC, Anne Mull of Idaho, Wendell "Eric" Rhinehart and his wife Lynn of Florida, and Linda Kelly and her husband Johnny of Leesville, SC; sister, Kathy Ellwood of Spartanburg; brothers, Roy "Mac" Smith and his wife Linda of Spartanburg, and Marshall Ray Smith and his wife Rachel of Cowpens; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews; and her beloved pet and companion, Spot. She was predeceased by a brother, Oliver G. Smith Jr. A cryptside service will be conducted at 1:00 PM Thursday, January 12, 2012, in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens Mausoleum Complex, Spartanburg, SC, by the Rev. Sal Barone and the Rev. Bill Adams. Visitation will follow at the cryptside. In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests memorials be made to Lutheran Homes of South Carolina, 300 Ministry Drive, Irmo, SC 29063.
