Margaret Phillips

Margaret Mary Painter Phillips, 97, formerly of 131 Gerow Avenue, Spartanburg, died Thursday, December 29, 2011, at her daughter's home after a brief illness. Born June 2, 1914, in Columbia, SC, she was the daughter of the late Thomas Murray and Jennie Davis Painter, and wife of the late Daniel Cunnington Phillips, Sr. Mrs. Phillips was a longtime member of St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church and currently a member of The Catholic Church of Jesus Our Risen Savior. She was a wife and mother, a Fuller Brush salesperson, a member of the St. Anne's Circle at St. Paul's, and the Ladies Golf Association-Huntington Hills Country Club (The Creek Golf Club). Survivors include her sons, Daniel Cunnington Phillips, Jr. of Rockville, MD, and Robert Mitchell Phillips and wife Carolyn of Charlotte, NC; daughters, Margaret Anne Phillips Robbins and husband Mike of Boiling Springs, SC, and Mary Angela Phillips Clements and husband George of Spartanburg; grandchildren, Daniel C. Phillips, III, John Thomas Phillips, Mark Wilson Phillips, Sharon Frances Phillips Voorhis, Michael Dane Robbins, Jr., Holly Angela Clements Williams, Sgt. Andrew Watson Clements, and Emily Phillips Clements; fifteen great-grandchildren; and a brother, William Francis "Frank" Painter of Lancaster, PA. She was predeceased by a brother, Thomas Murray Painter. A Rosary in her honor will begin at 6:30 PM, followed by visitation from 7:00-9:00 PM Friday, December 30, 2011, at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel. A Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted at 11:00 AM Saturday, December 31, 2011, at The Catholic Church of Jesus Our Risen Savior, by the Rev. Ted Kalaw CRM. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens.
