Margaret Petty

July 27, 1938 — February 28, 2018

Margaret Elizabeth Watson Petty, 79, of Spartanburg, SC, passed peacefully on the morning of Wednesday, February 28, 2018, at RoseCrest Community Healthcare-Inman. Born July 27, 1938, in Spartanburg, SC, she was the daughter of the late Claud Dee and Ruby Althalee Parham Watson. Known as "Sis," "Pudge," and "Granny," she loved animals, reading, crossword puzzles, country music, ice hockey, and traveling. Her greatest joy came from her family who will miss her "saucy" personality, keen wit, and feisty attitude. A graduate of Spartanburg High School, Mrs. Petty was a parent-teacher volunteer and band parent. She retired from JC Penney Department Store and was a member of El Bethel United Methodist Church. Survivors include her husband of 61 years, James Kelly "JK" Petty; their daughter, Mary Dee Petty Revan and son-in-law, David R. Revan, his children, D. Lawson Revan (Ali), Alison C. Revan (Jason), and beloved grandson, Joshua Kelly MacQueen Revan. She is also survived by nieces and nephews: Joel Dee Watson (Cheryl), Wendy Watson, Wanda Watson, John Parham Watson, Jr., and William Watson; as well as numerous great and great-great nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her brothers and sisters-in-law: Claud Dee and Arleene Watson, and John Parham Watson, Sr. and Carol Lee Watson. Visitation will be 3:00-3:45 PM Saturday, March 3, 2018, at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel, 2075 E. Main St., Spartanburg, SC 29307, with funeral services following at 4:00 PM, conducted by The Rev. William Thompson and eulogist, Joel Dee Watson. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Hope Center for Children, PO Box 1731, Spartanburg, SC 29304; Spartanburg Humane Society, 150 Dexter Road, Spartanburg, SC 29303; or Bearden Josey Cancer Center, c/o Spartanburg Medical Center, 101 East Wood Street, Spartanburg, SC 29303.
