Margaret Ila Burgess Worley, age 98, widow of Morris J. Worley, passed away on Wednesday, August 23, 2023. A native of Spartanburg County, she was the daughter of the late Luther and Nellie Burgess and the last surviving member of her immediate family. She was a homemaker and member of Ben Avon Baptist Church.
Margaret was the most loving, sacrificial, and dedicated mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Her life exemplified grace, faith, and courage in the face of many challenges. Her greatest joy was in her children and grandchildren. She provided an example to them of persevering with joy and faith through whatever life brought her.
She is survived by her daughter, Jackie Moore of Spartanburg, two sons, Rick Worley (Joyce) of Roebuck, Rusty Worley (Ann) of Orangeburg, five grandchildren; Bobby Moore, Jamie (Tuesday) Moore of Myrtle Beach, Candy Worley of Spartanburg, Tracey Godfrey (Allen) of Boiling Springs and Michael Worley (Joy), of Monks Corner; three great-grandchildren, Bryn, Wyatt, and Arden Godfrey.
In addition to her husband, Morris, she is also predeceased by a grandson, Rusty Worley, two brothers and two sisters.
Her Memorial service, conducted by Rev. David Moore, will be held at 2:00 pm, Sunday, August 27, at The J. F. Floyd’s Mortuary, Greenlawn Chapel, 2075 East Main St, Spartanburg, SC 29307. The family will receive friends after the service.
