Margaret Horton

Margaret Ann Searcy Horton, 79, of Spartanburg, SC, met her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Monday, December 5, 2016, surrounded by her children who loved her so much. Margaret was born September 6, 1937, in Polk County, NC to the late Bobby and Texie Stockton Searcy. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Donald Lee Horton and a brother, Joe Searcy. Margaret graduated from Green Creek High School in 1956, retired from Arrow Automotive after more than 20 years of service, and was a member of Cudd Memorial Baptist Church and the Joy Sunday School Class for over 55 years. Surviving are her daughter, Cathy Davis (Rick) of Boiling Springs, SC; her son, Dennis Horton (Amanda) of Inman, SC; four loving grandchildren, Heather Workman (Blake) of Central, SC, Dylan Horton of Columbia, SC, Matthew Davis of Boiling Springs, SC, and Makayla Horton of Inman, SC. Margaret was blessed with the birth of a very precious and beautiful great-granddaughter, Amelia Elizabeth Workman. Amelia was the joy in Margaret's life that sustained her through the last six months of her life. She is also survived by her sisters and brothers, Jerry Searcy (Lois), Louise West, Betty Meekins (Norman), Hazel Phillips (Jerry), Shirley McEntyre (Forest), and David Searcy (Brenda). She also had many nieces and nephews who loved her greatly. Visitation will be held 6:00-8:00 PM Thursday, December 8, 2016, at Floyd's Boiling Springs Chapel, 4161 Hwy 9 N, Boiling Springs, SC 29316. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 PM Friday, December 9, 2016, at Cudd Memorial Baptist Church, by the Rev. Ronnie Norris and the Rev. Dusty Martin. Burial will be in Boiling Springs Memorial Gardens, 4081 Hwy 9 N, Boiling Springs, SC 29316. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Cudd Memorial Baptist Church Building Fund, 1301 Boiling Springs Rd., Spartanburg, SC 29303. The family will be at the home of her son, Dennis Horton.
